Get A Life?

Everyone has a life whether you like it or not.

People who say, "get a life" don't seem to understand that anyone breathing has a 'life.' I hear that phrase on TV and in movies all of the time. I've also seen people use that phrase in chat rooms and message boards when they don't agree with someone or don't approve of what they do.

Most people usually say, "get a life" when other people act differently from them. If you like to 'party' and get drunk, you might think someone who doesn't drink needs to get a life. If you are religious and go to church 20 times a week, you might think other people who don't do the same need to get a life. If you have a family and a house and a white picket fence, you might think anyone who doesn't needs to get a life. If you are single and free to do whatever you want, you might think that married people need to get a life. The list goes on and on.

Although it's subjective, it is true that some people need to get up off the couch and live the lives that they've always dreamed of. But even a life on the couch is still a life and if that's the kind of life some people want to live, that's their business as long as they have the money to do it.

Whether or not you approve, everyone has a life. They don't need to get one.
