The Bible Code is Real

And so is the Moby Dick code.

Opinion page by Duane Alan Hahn.

No matter how goofy some of those Bible code guys seem to be or how wrong their numbers are when talking about odds and probability, It's still amazing that so many words could be encoded near each other like that.

Something most skeptics don't realize is that finding codes in a book such as Moby Dick doesn't invalidate the Bible codes, it helps to prove that they might be real. If you can understand that a religious-free God can exist, a being that always existed who broke himself/herself/itself into smaller pieces that became us so that 'he' could experience 'his' own greatness, and since we are essentially God ourselves, it's not hard to see how things any of us write could contain codes in them.

It says in one of my favorite books (Conversations with God) that time happens all at once from God's perspective, but we experience it in a line in this physical realm, you know, the way most people think of time, just one long string where one year follows another. Since we choose to forget the truth about who we really are when we come to play in these bodies in the physical realm, it's easy to think we are separate from God, but we are never separate, it just seems like that so we can play the game.

Now, if any of us writes or collects enough text, a book as large as the Bible or Moby Dick, it will contain a lot of Bible code-like information in them, but it's not because God is directly influencing what we are writing, it's just a side effect of being connected to a being that sees everything that will happen and has ever happened all at once. It's similar to reverse speech. Play something some government guy is saying backwards and you might hear what he really thinks about the subject. Whether it's Bible codes or reverse speech, it's just us leaking our own hidden knowledge to the world. It's not a big deal.

So, when someone says that Bible codes prove that the Bible was written by God, tell them it doesn't prove that any more than finding similar codes in Moby Dick proves that there is no God or that the whole code thing is total B.S. It's not B.S., it's all just a side effect of our connection with God. It's that simple.
