Are You Pro-Life?Are you pro-new-life or pro-all-life?
Opinion page by Duane Alan Hahn.
Before you read any further, understand that I am not promoting abortion. Although it's possible that an unborn human may not be inhabited by a spirit yet, abortion is still destruction of a life form. Abortion is the murder of a living creature, whether it has a soul or not. It's as if you're holding its little heart in your hand and squeezing until the beating stops and blood runs through your fingers. As bad as that sounds, it's still not the same as killing someone after birth. If you are against killing of any kind, you will be against abortion, but if you don't see anything wrong with killing what you might consider a lesser life form, it's not so bad.
You should also know that there is an example below to show that many people are not really 'pro-life,' they're 'pro-new-life.' You wouldn't believe the number of e-mails I have received from people who misinterpret the point of the example. It does not say that all poor kids turn out to be murderers or that rich kids can't be murderers. It's simply pointing out that many people are not "pro-life" they're just "anti-abortion." They seem to think that a young life is sacred because it's full of promise while a slightly older life is trash to be thrown out when it doesn't suit them. Murder in the name of justice is still murder. Thirst for revenge is strong and may taste sweet on the way down, but every drop will stain and scar the heart.
First, I have to talk a little about what I think life is, so you can understand what I'm talking about. From what I understand, we are spirits who take control of the physical body for a while, then we leave it when it no longer serves us. Our spirits act as batteries that charge these bodies. The human body can exist for short periods of time without a spirit to charge it, but it will soon die unless doctors attach machines to it.
Some near-death experiencers have reported that they saw their bodies acting alone, for example, flailing like a wild animal to keep from drowning. The body seems to have a limited consciousness of it's own, free from the spirit. The paradox is that, although the body has that limited consciousness, it needs a spirit to keep on living. This helps to explain the constant duality we experience. The body wants to do one thing while we want to do another. That's because it's a separate organism that takes all the power our spirits can give and thinks it created it. It thinks it's the boss. That's how self-discipline can work so well. Hold back some of that energy and the body gets the message that it's not the one with the power.
Now to the main subject. It's also understood by some that our spirits do not integrate with our bodies until after birth. It's the mother's spirit that charges and recharges the life form until birth and then the spirit enters the new body. Abortion may be a waste of energy and resources, but it's not murder in the normal sense. It's spiritless flesh. It cannot live on its own for long. But don't misunderstand, abortion is murder of a life form, a future shell for a soul.
Many pro-life advocates think killing animals is OK, but killing an animal is more of a "murder" than an abortion because the animal has already been integrated with its spirit, the fetus has not. I'm not saying that abortion is a good thing, it's just not murder in the way that most people think of it. Abortion won't be used as often when even safer and more reliable methods of birth control are available to the masses. When it's cheap enough so that most people can afford it and insane religions stop trying to block it, pregnancy prevention will eliminate the need for most abortions.
There are people who think that some dusty old book tells them that abortion is wrong. Most of them haven't read the book or could even understand it if they did try to read it, but they march, scream, spit, wave signs, make threats, and even kill because religious leaders encourage them to do so with a wink and a nod.
These people are not pro-life, they just want others to conform. The more people they can force to "see the light," the more they feel validated. Here's a related quote: People have a peculiar pleasure in making converts, that is, in causing others to enjoy what they enjoy, thus finding their own likeness represented and reflected back to them. Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe How many times do you think the following has happened or will happen?
These anti-abortionists are not pro-life, they're pro-new-life. The anti-abortionists are blindly following leaders who aren't trying to save lives, they just want fresh young minds to shape. They know that a certain percentage of these girls will either go to the sponsor church, or will send their children. These leaders know that if you "get 'em while they're young," you can fill your seats and your pockets for many years to come.
