Memorable Movies and TV: A - EMovies & TV shows that are cool, strange, or just fun to watch
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension (1984) I like the tech stuff and Lithgow the best. I don't care about the love story and the other junk. Wikipedia - IMDb - BadMovies - FAQ
The Amazing Race (Reality TV Series) I do not love this show, but after watching the reruns on GSN, it's not so bad. You can learn a lot of things about people and the world if you watch this show. There are always one or two 'ugly Americans' that serve as examples of what not to do. CBS - Wikipedia - Internet Movie Database Buy The Amazing Race - The Seventh Season on DVD
American Dad (Cartoon TV Series) Sometimes this show is just as good as Family Guy. Official page at FOX - Wikipedia - Internet Movie Database Buy American Dad!, Vol. 2 on DVD
Andy Richter Controls the Universe (TV Series 3/19/2002 to 1/2003) Paget Brewster was hot. She's wasn't the only reason to watch the show, but I would watch it if there was no show and they just followed her around with a camera. The show is gone forever now and Paget Brewster's hair style in the second season might have been the cause. She looked perfect in the first season and then they messed up her hair and ruined the show.
Arrested Development (TV Series) FOX killed another one. It's nice that FOX takes chances on quirky shows, but they don't give these shows enough time to build an audience. Instead of debuting these shows on the network, maybe Fox should create a cable channel that will give quirky shows a few years to build up an audience, then they can be moved to network TV. If they don't make it on FOX, they can drop back to the cable channel and live on until no one cares anymore. Arthur (1981) I don't like Liza Minnelli and I don't like drunks, but this movie is still pretty good. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Auggie Rose (2000) A very strange little movie starring Jeff Goldblum and Anne Heche.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) I like this better than the first or third movies, but I would have liked it better if Elizabeth Hurley was the love interest in this one instead of Heather Graham. Although Elizabeth Hurley is a little goofy looking, she's still hot, but Heather Graham has zero sex appeal. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Bad Ronald (1974) A very strange movie where a nutty killer teen lives in a secret room.
Beakman's World (TV Series) I only liked this show when Alanna Ubach (who played Josie) was on it. Official Site - Wikipedia - Internet Movie Database Buy The Best of Beakman's World on DVD
Beetlejuice (1988) First time I 'fell in love' with Winona Ryder. About the only part I don't like is the boring other side because it slows down the movie so much. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Bicentennial Man (1999) I like about 40% of this movie. IMDb - SciFlicks - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Big Man on Campus (1989) With a name like, 'Bob Maloogaloogalooga...' it has to be good. Not the greatest movie in the world, but it's worth watching at least once.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) I like at least 80% of this movie. Wikipedia - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
The Black Adder (UK TV Series) Wikipedia - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Blockbusters [U.S. Version from early 1980s] (Game Show 10/27/80 to 4/23/82) Bill Cullen Page - David's Game Show Galaxy
The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976) I liked this movie a lot when I was a kid. Wikipedia - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Brazil (1985) Strange movie. I used to like the version with the happy ending better, but now both are fine with me. Wikipedia - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Brewster's Millions - (1985) Almost nothing to hate about this movie except the quick ending. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV series 3/10/97 to 5/20/2003) The sex scenes and fight scenes are boring (although I do like how the vampires turn into dust). What interests me are the times when the "Scooby gang" is trying to figure out a mystery and when they are just chatting (with bits of sarcasm and humor flying around). I think the show should have ended when Buffy jumped to her death. The show sucked after that (with a couple of good spots thrown in here and there). Wikipedia - EpGuides - IMDb Comments - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
The Bugaloos (TV Series 9/12/1970 to 9/2/1972) Caroline Ellis (Joy) was much prettier than Britney Spears (for example). She was the only reason I watched the show. I didn't like the singing or much of anything else. Wikipedia - EpGuides - Bugalooney - Tranquility Forest - 70s Live Action Kid Vid Search for the Bugaloos DVD at Amazon.com
Caddyshack (1980) You have to fast forward through the sex and other crap to get to the funny stuff. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Cast Away (2000) I didn't like this movie a whole lot the first time I watched it, but now I like it much better than I did. The special edition DVD version has some cool stuff on it such as the "S.T.O.P.: Surviving as a Castaway Survivalists Documentary." IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Century City (TV Series 3/16/2004 to 3/30/2004) Finally, a lawyer show that I could stand. Since it was based in 2030 (not far enough into the future in my opinion), the stories are about things that are more interesting than the same old crap on other lawyer shows. Too bad it was cancelled before it got a chance to find an audience.
A Christmas Story (1983) Everyone with a DVD player should have this movie. Although it's not perfect, it's still a classic. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Chuck (TV Series) This has turned out to be one of my favorite shows. Chuck is like a cross between Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) from The Office and Jimmy Fallon from SNL.
The Class (TV Show) It looked like they were never going to give the wimpy pasty guy a break, such as having his new girlfriend constantly getting hurt, but it seems they understand that situations don't always have to be bad to be funny. I don't like that they got rid of the reporter. There's no rule that all of the characters have to be in every episode. You have a main character or couple that you focus on and the 'satellite' characters can take turns from week to week. You don't have to fire actors because you can't find a place for them in every episode. The show got cancelled, which totally sucks. I liked this show.
Commando (1985) A lot of drama queen junk, but there are a few good scenes. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Criminal Minds (TV Series) Another show I thought I wouldn't like. It's not bad.
The Daily Show (TV Series 1996 to ?) I used to like Craig Kilborn more than Jon Stewart as the host of the Daily Show, but Jon Stewart turned out to be the better host. Craig Kilborn became almost instantly boring when he moved to CBS.
Dark Skies (TV Series 9/21/96 to 5/31/97) It wasn't the greatest, but it was interesting enough to watch every week.
Dexter (TV Series) Except for a crappy sex scene once in a while, this show is great. Before they killed off Doakes, I hoped Dexter and Doakes would become partners. They worked well together as a team when killing the two drug dealers at the cabin. Doakes was already kind of like Dexter, so Doakes could have become the semi-reluctant partner who isn't there for the actual killings and dismemberment, but helps grab bad guys that the police can't get enough evidence on and also help keep Dexter out of trouble. Defending Your Life (1991) There are some really funny scenes in this movie. IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Doctor Who Most people have a favorite and Tom Baker is mine. BBC - EpGuides - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com
Dungeons & Dragons (Cartoon Series 9/17/83 to 9/5/87) One of the few cartoons I can tolerate. The Realm - Cavern of Tiamat - POV by Mark Evanier - D & D the Cartoon - Wikipedia - Google Directory Click here to buy the complete series of Dungeons & Dragons on DVD from Amazon.com
Explorers (1985) The part of the movie before they get to the ship is good. It isn't bad when they get back to Earth either. This is back when Ethan Hawke was a cute kid, before he turned into the icky-looking beast of the 1990s and beyond. How could such a cute kid turn into that? IMDb - Search for the DVD at Amazon.com

Da Ali G Show (HBO TV Series) Sacha Baron Cohen is a good actor, but that doesn't make this show funny. The old Stuttering John episodes from the Howard Stern Show where John pretended to be a real reporter and asked silly question were usually much funnier than anything seen on Da Ali G Show.
American Idol (TV Series) I only like the first few episodes of each season where they show the worst of the worst. Great stuff. It's funny to watch really terrible singers and dancers who think they are great. I hate the rest of the show and refuse to watch it. I'd watch a show called "America's Worst" or "Delusional American" though.
Auntie Mame (1958)
Batman Returns (1992)
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)
The Beverly Hillbillies (TV Series)
The 'Burbs (1989)
Cabaret (1972)
Any variation of this show is terrible.
Crank Yankers (TV Series) With all of the talented people who make these crank calls, it's amazing that almost none of it is funny. The only time it's funny at all is when 'Special Ed' is on. Although most of the show sucks, it has a great theme song.
Carter Country (TV Series)
Congo (1995)
Enterprise (TV Series) This show just plain sucks. From the sickening theme song to the boring story lines. Every Star Trek series after the original managed to rehash the same old stuff in a new and interesting way, but this series seems stalled. I like a lot of the cast members, but something is wrong. Even Voyager managed to hold onto some of the Star Trek magic, but the magic must have died when that series ended. They even changed that horrible Enterprise theme song a little, but it still sucks. The only reason to watch this show is to laugh at it or to stare at the hot Vulcan.
Pesky People They might be the nicest people in the world, but something about their public personas make me cringe and change the channel.
His fake deep 'Bowzer' voice sucked and so did the crappy act he put on. Whenever I see him appearing as 'Bowzer' on things such as the Match Game, I fast forward past his part or change the channel. |
